The Jesus Lizard - Liar

This band's singer David Yow is one gloriously fucked up human. Through his two seminal bands Scratch Acid and this band The Jesus Lizard, he has let out all the disturbed and sexually dark anger out for us to hear. He has one of the most demented screams that any one has been given, just check out the below tracks if you need proof. On "Gladiator" you get the ramblings of a man who at some point a psychiatrist gave up on, gave a microphone to and told him to let his anger out through it. Him being backed up by three raw and violent musicians helped out a fair bit too. However the sound that comes together through this madness has a bizarre melody hidden under the layers of depravity and fear. With audio engineering work from the always bleak Steve Albini, this record could be the finest demonstration of The Jesus Lizards work. They have been hugely influential to every disturbed band to emerge in the last decade and their music still lays waist to most of what has come recently.
